Ford Ka 2009 Wiring Diagram
Discussion Starter · #1 ·
Hi all 😁
So I have a 2013 ford Ka. Have spent the day trying to fit new stereo to no avail, the iso harness I got with my new facia said I will need to connect the red ignition wire to a suitable source so I used the (grey/white) wire from the cigarette lighter and piggy backed off that. Still no power.
Went to Halfords to see if they had another block as the wires don't match up on the new iso block going into the car block. They said it has something to do with the can bus which is why it isn't working.
So I've found a harness online which is £35 but don't really want to spend anymore.
Therefore, what is can bus doing and can I re-wire to bypass?
Many thanks

The Ford Ka and the Fiat Mini 500 are the same car IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong.)
What stereo did you buy and can you send pictures of the harness and/or connectors you're working with?

Many thanks, the stereo is JVC as pictured, swapping from my old car so I know it works etc.
Attached pics of the harness etc, the iso block that came with the kit doesn't match up with the cars block at all? Like I say, I've piggy backed off the ignition with the red wire to the cigarette socket. The can bus connector is the one with 3 wires on the white block

Wish I knew more about the Euro-spec versions and compatibility but I'm pretty sure from the looks of it that it's the same as a Ford Focus and for 2013 they had an outboard amplifier and that's what the "canbus" connection you're referring to is for... I know Maestro sells a T-Link kit for those models but depending on what radio it came from the factory with there's a bunch of different configurations and I don't know if they are the same for the Ka or not. The one Focus that I've worked on we had to cut and splice wires even with the T-Harness to get the signal from the new radio to the factory amplifier and I don't want to suggest that to you without better first hand knowledge.
Halfords didn't have a kit to bypass the factory amplifier?

Many thanks for your response 😀
Its a bit of a pain with this can bus but I think I may have to bite the bullet and get the adaptor so not to mess with it too much. Found the below which looks suitable.

Yes, that's exactly what you need and I'm surprised that Halfords didn't have one but anyway, that's exactly what I was talking about.
